The Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2020 process is conducted in 4 stages that are  Physical Standards Tests (PST), Physical Efficiency Tests (PET), Extra-Curricular Activities & Special Skills and Written Test.

Scrutiny of documents

  • In Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2020, first documents are verified by the board and only then candidates will be allowed to move to the further stages of the selection process.
  • Candidates are required to bring All the original documents along with a set of Photostat copies of the documents.
  • All the documents will be checked before the candidate is allowed to appear in the PST and PET as per the given eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates who in the case get rejected will be given rejection slips specifying the reason for rejection.
  • In order to avoid manipulation of documents at a later stage, the Chairman or a Member of the DLSC shall put his/her signature on each copy of such document at the time of PST/PET; particularly on caste certificate and any other documents which carry marks against Extracurricular Activities and Special Skills.

List of Important Documents required for Document verification Rounds

  •  Candidates are required to bring a Certificate of proof of age. (Admit card /certificate of HSLC or equivalent Examination)
  •  Candidates must bring a valid Certificate of HSLC or equivalent examination from a recognized board
  •  Candidates should bring Mark-sheet of HSLC or equivalent examination from a recognized board
  •  Certificate of Higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board
  •  Candidate must bring Mark –Sheet of Higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board
  • Candidates need to bring Certificate of additional qualifications such as Diploma from ITI/ Foreman from a recognized board
  • Certificate or other recognized/accredited Institute etc (if any).
  • Candidates can also carry a Certificate of sports, games, etc. (if any).
  • Candidates need to bring experience certificate of serving in Home Guards and certificate of NCC (if any) from the competent authority.

Physical Standards Tests (PST)

After the documents are thoroughly checked and found valid, the candidates will have to appear in the PST (Physical Standard Test). This Test will not carry any marks. In this test physical measurements of candidates are checked. Board will measure the height, weight & chest (only males) of the candidates will be done using the latest technology and after which the candidate will be examined by a Medical Officer for preliminary check-ups for followings

  • Color blindness test

Physical measurements for Physical Standard Test

Physical measurements for the Physical standard test is mentioned in the table for different categories for both male and female. Candidates can check the height and chest measurement (applicable for males) in the table below. Once a candidate clears the PST he/she will have to appear in the PET (Physical Efficiency Test).

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)

Once the candidate qualifies the PST Round he/she will be available for the PET Round. The Physical Efficiency Test will carry 40 marks. The candidates will be made to perform various tests like running or long jump which will examine their physical fitness.  Authority will install CCTV to record each event of the PST and PET for each candidate. Performances may also be announced through the Public Address (PA) system . All Candidates will be subjected to biometric recordings for identification. The candidate will get eliminated from the Assam Police Recruitment 2020 process as soon as he /she fails to qualify for any event during the PST and PET round.

  • Individual statements of marks signed by the candidate and the officer conducting the race/ tests will be shown to the candidates.
  • A rejection slip will be given to a candidate if he/she is eliminated from the PET or PST Test.
  • Results of the PST and PET will be locally displayed at the end of each day of the Test.
  • After completion of the PST and PET for all the candidates. Board will release District-wise merit lists for each category (Unreserved,, SC, ST(P), ST(H),OBC for both men and women) and will be prepared on the basis of the total marks scored on PET.
  • Candidates called for the written tests are usually 5 times more than the no of vacancies allotted in each category. If boards detect the total number of qualifying candidates turns out to be less than 5 times the number of posts, all qualifying candidates but no other will be called for the Written Test.

The Physical Efficiency Test will be conducted in two stages for both males and females

  • Race ( maximum 20 marks): Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to a 3.2 km race to be completed within 14 minutes (840 seconds).
  • Long Jump ( maximum 20 marks): Minimum 335 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).
  • Race ( maximum 20 marks): Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to 1600mtrs. race to be completed within 08 minutes.
  • Long Jump ( maximum 20 marks): Minimum 244 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).

Extra-Curricular Activities & Special Skills

Apart from PET round, the board will also calculate marks on the basis of Extracurricular activities. Educational Qualification (Extra-curricular marks) to be allotted for Educational Qualification will be based on results of HSLC for Constable (Carpenter) and Higher Secondary Examination for Constable (Communication) & Constable (Messenger) & Constable (UB) and Sub Officers, Firemen & Emergency Rescuers of F&ES as given below in the table. Marks for Extra-Curricular Activities and Special Skills will not be announced instantly as this may involve further verification of information.

Written Test

  • The written test will consist of 100 multiple choice type questions to be answered on an OMR answer sheet.
  •  A total of 5 topics will be asked in this examination that is, Elementary Arithmetic, General English, Logical reasoning, Assam History and General Awareness.
  • For each correct answer, the candidate will be rewarded 0.5 marks or half marks. Questions will be based on the level of class IX and X. 
  • The Written Test will be set for Total marks of 50. 
  • There will be no negative marking in the written test.
  • Written Tests will be conducted throughout the State on one day at each district Headquarter
  • Authority will soon announce the date of the written test and will be notified in due course.

The final result marks will be released by the authority on the basis of marks obtained in each stage. If any candidate fails to achieve the qualifying in any stage then his/her candidature will be rejected by the authority. After the completion of the selection process candidates, marks of each stage will be separately evaluated and calculated to make the final merit list. The selected list of candidate will be released in the form of a merit list
